Hello, Since I need to calculate the hourly global radiation for a longer period of time I wonder if there is a way to automatize the calculation process in order to avoid the time consuming request.
you can calculate for long periods at once using a datafile.
As only global radiation is desired in your case, just - create a file with date and time (and cloud cover if you have that) for the whole period you want to calculate global radiation for. - Load this ("input" --> "Datafile"). - Check only "Date" and "Time" (and cloud cover if present), as well as "Output in file". - Set your location (and cloud cover, if not present in datafile). - Make sure, "Global radiation" is checked in "Table". - Hit "New".
I saved a file with the columns "date" and "time" in excel as .txt (tab limited) and regarded your advices as well as those in the topic "problems with importing datafile in RayMan".
No mather how I've turned it Rayman didn't accept the time-column as I fed it. It either doesn't recognize it or uses "0:00" as time instead.
Since I don't know how to get along now I want to ask you if you can send me a .txt-file with date and time that Rayman accepts for calculating global radiation.
your file needs to look like that (in the text editor, not in excel!):
01.01.2000 0:00 01.01.2000 1:00 01.01.2000 2:00 ~ 01.01.2000 23:00 02.01.2000 1:00 and so on.
The column seperator may be a blanc or a tab (but only one!). Also make sure, there is no blancs at the end of any row, as well as there must not be any empty rows at the end of the file.
well, I'm going to need a lot more details to help you. From the few information you gave, a lot of things could have gone wrong?
What did you check in the Datafile window (consider posting a screenshot)? What was checked in the "Table" menu in the main window? Was the source file accessible by RayMan? Is it broken somehow? Maybe try download again? Was the target file writable by RayMan? It must be in a location RayMan can write to (check windows write permissions!). If you are running RayMan as a unprivileged user (not admin), you need to safe the file in one of the users directories! The target file must of course not be the same as the source file!
