I am working on a study of the relationship between urban form and outdoor thermal comfort. I have a question about the PET calculation. Now, I got the related microclimate data, including the Ta(air temperature), RH(relative humidity), WS(wind speed), Tmrt(mean radiant temperature), as well as the personal data, clothing, activity and geographic data. Are these input data enough for PET calculation? Is the obstacle file necessary to upload? Looking forward to your help. Thanks in advance.
Ta, RH, WS and Tmrt together with person data should be sufficient to estimate thermal indices. Of course, all the obstacles mus be considered in the Tmrt provided and all parameters must be valid for 1.1m above ground (human gravity center).
Thanks so much. Indeed, the surrounding urban environment has been considered in the Tmrt, and all the data are obtained at the pedestrian level. I have tried to calculate the PET both with obstacle file and without obstacle before, and the thermal comfort index results are always the same. So, I suppose that if the Tmrt are valid, the obstacle file should be unnecessary for PET calculation. Your answer confirmed my assumption.
