I have downloaded Rayman Pro and want to use for some calculations but I have a proble with the Topography input data. I have created a txt file with one column with the heights and i try to import it in the model but unfortunatelly I cannot. After importing the elevation in all points is still zero
Maybe I am doing something wrong. Can anyone help me please?
please make sure to first set the number of columns or rows in the grid distance box on the right. Does it work then?
I'm unsure if newline seperated filed do work with all versions of RayMan. Maybe retry with a modified copy of your terrain file holding all the values in one row seperated by one blank each.
Hello, unfortunately I couldn't solve my problem. Step by step what I do. 1. create a topography file (.txt format) 2. set my grid preferences (distance, rows and columns) 3. insert the topography file 4. hit actualize map and then NOTHING happes. No points inserted, nothing. Everyhing remains zero. The location is x=1000, y=1000 and z=0.0 and all points have different x and y but z is always 0. Naturally, I should be able to see a difference in the points, write? Finaly, when I insert points by hand from the "edit point" and then hit actualize map, the file I export haw all the points 0 again.
What can I do? Please help me.
I have another question: I have a grid of different points with different elevation in each point. How do I create my topography file? What I did was to write them one by one in a text file (tried writing them either in column and in a row). Is that correct or I have to do with another way?
Last question do I actually need to insert these data or I can skip that part and go directly to inserting obstacles?
hmm, how did you create the topography file? Please check if there is only one column or one row with the values separated by a whitspace or tab. Please further check if there is exactly the right amount of values and there is not an empty line or blank character at the end of the file. Please also check if there is some error with comma separation. Therefore please therefore round to full numbers and remove any decimals (try with a small sample first to safe work time).
If non of this applies, can you send the file to dominik.froehlich@dwd.de, so I can have a look?
For your other question: RayMan can only consider one terrain file. If you have several of those (why so ever), you should probably merge them by using some GIS and export one raster file containing always the highest value.
If you actually need a terrain file does depend on the terrain in your study site. Is there steep terrain? If it is quite flat with only some meters difference, I'd leave out the terrain. However, if your site is in the mountains is will be quite relevant.
Combining terrain and obstacles can be quite challenging in RayMan (and is not officially supported). In this case I'd recommend using SkyHelios to export a fisheye image and work with that on RayMan.
